Listen to a Sample:
With Leonie Rysanek in the cast a performance can never be described as "palid" and she is by far the best thing about this Un Ballo in Maschera from 1973. A compelling, anguished Amelia, she is at her best in the great act two love duet opposite the piercing tenor of Ludovico Spiess. Giuseppe Taddei gives a booming rendition of ”Eri Tu”, but unfortunately his aria is compromised by some audible distortion. (The quality of the recording varies between quite good and acceptable.) Olivera Miljakovic is a charming Oscar, and the Serbian mezzo Biserka Cvejic is a relatively light-voiced but beautiful-sounding Ulrica. Anton Guadagno conducts.
