La Scala assembled some of  the best Verdi singers of the time for this production of Un Ballo in maschera.  In the role of Amelia you have Antonietta Stella and Giuseppe Di Stefano assumes the role of Riccardo.  Both are in top form and sing with ease and beauty.  Ettore Bastianini sings Renato and delivers a beautiful "Eri tu," conveying ire in the first section and then palpable grief in the second.  Gianandrea Gavazzeni leads the musicians in this quintessentially Italian Ballo.  The sound is good.
