Wagner: Parsifal (Act 1) - Ralf, Bampton, List, Janssen; E. Kleiber. Buenos Aires, 1946
$5.37
Listen to a Sample:
Pros:
- Erich Kleiber weaves his special brand of musical magic into Wagner's final opera and is well-supported by the fine playing of the orchestra ot the Teatro Colón.
- Torsten Ralf burly, yet lyric, tenor is a perfect fit for the title role.
- Kundry doesn't have much to do in Act I, but Rose Bampton manages to stand out, particularly in Kundry's last lines before the transition to the second scene.
Cons:
- The pitch on the master was somewhat inconsistant throughout the recording. I did my best to realign it.
