Pros:
- After hearing this performance, it's clear that the role of Orfeo doesn’t quite work for a baritone. The lower tessitura diminishes the sense of urgency that a soprano or tenor naturally brings to the role. That said, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau’s insightful interpretation ultimately transcends the musical incongruities.
- Elisabeth Söderström’s silvery soprano beautifully captures the tragic elegance of Euridice, infusing the role with both vulnerability and grace.
- Ruth-Margret Putz’s mischievous Amor adds a delightful spark to the performance.
Cons:
- None to mention.
