Interesting collection of superb dramatic sopranos
This compilation is an excellent comparative study for hardcore Wagner and Ring fans. The Immolation scenes cover a roughly 30 year period, from the late 40s to the late 70s. The sound quality is variable, but you get to hear Astrid Varnay in an early version, and Gwyneth Jones at the top of her game. Birgit Nilsson, of course, is wonderful. I'm a fan of Anja Silja, so hearing her Brunnhilde was a treat.
