Wolfgang Windgassen brings a convincing arc to the title role, capturing both the innocence and the gradual awakening of Parsifal. Régine Crespin is a fierce and grounded Kundry, and Franz Crass lends refinement to Gurnemanz with his noble bass. Theo Adam is an expressive Amfortas, giving weight to the character’s suffering. The adult and children's choruses displaying exceptional precision and ensemble clarity.
Some cuts in the score may be noticeable to seasoned Wagnerians, and Régine Crespin has audible difficulty near the end of Act II.
