Years ago, Irene Dalis shared with me her experience singing Ortrud at Bayreuth, where, according to her, the audience broke into an ovation after "Entweihte Götter," halting the performance. Unfortunately, she was sick and missed opening night, so no broadcast exists, but we are fortunate to have this radio feature (in English) focusing on Act II, Scene i, featuring Dalis and Ramón Vinay as Telramund. In addition to numerous recorded excerpts, both with piano and orchestra, the program offers a glimpse into the mind of Wieland Wagner and insights from conductor Wolfgang Sawallisch. Both Dalis and Vinay share their thoughts on their roles and their experiences working with Wieland Wagner.
