Though many of the singers may not be widely known, I found myself completely captivated by the performance. Helena Braun brings a slender, youthful quality to Brünnhilde, while Ferdinand Frantz offers a suave and tender Wotan, particularly moving in the opera’s final moments. Günther Treptow sings Siegmund with a beautifully lyrical approach, never forcing his voice beyond its natural limits, and Hilde Konetzni rounds out the cast as an expressive Sieglinde.
The Vienna Philharmonic delivers a crisp and precise performance, with Rudolf Moralt leading the orchestra in a way that allows the brass section to shine—often to thrilling effect. The sound quality is excellent.
