Rita Gorr is best described as a mezzo's mezzo. Although she sang in all the world's great houses, she never achieved the star status of some of her colleagues, due in part to the fact that she left very few recordings. It is our pleasure to make this collection available to all that love dark and rich mezzo tones. This compilation features excerpts from Mahler, Wagner, Verdi and Massenet as well as a rare performance of her singing the Liebestod. The sound is very good.
