Description:

This Turandot offers an interesting pairing in the form of Amy Shuard and Franco Corelli. Shuard's rather cool soprano plays well against Franco Corelli's red-hot tenor and although the two singers seem of different worlds they ignite the stage and match each other decibel for decibel. Elizabeth Vaughan is lovely as Liù. The whole evening is aided by the deft hand of Charles Mackerras in the pit. The sound is fair.
