Although this performance of La Gioconda was towards the end of Tebaldi's career, it still represents Tebaldi at her best. I cannot think of another soprano who had the ability to maintain the beauty and lushness of her voice even when pushed to dramatic extremes. And high drama it is, especially when matched with the superb Laura of Franca Mattiucci. Gianfranco Cecchele delivers a sweet-voiced Enzo. The sound is very good.
