Patricia Brooks and Placido Domingo set the stage on fire in this performances of Manon from 1969. In the 60s there was a sweetness in Domingo's voice and he sings with remarkable lyricism. I don't think I have ever heard a more delicate version of "Ah, fuyez". Patricia Brooks' career didn't take off like her counterpart's but she is no less remarkable and well paired with Domingo as her voice, although agile, has a fullness. This fullness lends itself to great effect in the St. Sulpice scene. The sound is very good.
