Listen to a Sample:
Pros:
- No matter how serious the role, Beverly Sills always brought a sense of fun and daring, tipping her hat to the traditions of bel canto while also finding ways to bring a new point of view to cadenzas and interpretation.
- Pierre Duval had a hard task standing next to a legend like Sills, but he still manages to impress with his pristine baritonal tenor.
Cons:
- The sound is decent for Acts I & III and wretched for Act II. Still, it is worth it, in my opinion, for Sills in her prime.
