Pros:
- The considerable talent in this cast makes a very good argument for Charpentier's most famous opera.
- Carol Neblett is stunning in the title role, singing with remarkable finesse and opulence.
- John Alexander once again demonstrates that he could sing just about anything. It makes absolutely no sense to me why he never reached a level of stardom commensurate with his prodigious skills.
- Fun fact: This performance occurred only 15 years after the death of the composer.
