Listen to a Sample:
Pros:
- Rosalind Elias' pure, yet commanding mezzo finds a perfect home in the role of Carmen. Her Habañera, in particular, is remarkable both for it's seductiveness, as well as the laser accuracy with which she acquits the chromatic scales.
- Richard Tucker's tenor had the perfect balance of honey and vinegar to make him a José of note.
- As Escamillo, Frank Guarrera makes a good argument for having a baritone in this part.
Cons:
- None to mention.
