This performance features an entirely Spanish cast.  Elena Mauti-Nunziata sings Violetta.  Although unknown to me, her voice is opulent and her top secure.  The real star of this performance, however, is Alfredo Kraus.  Nearly twenty years after the legendary "Lisbon Traviata" Kraus delivers a sensitive and beautifully sung account of Alfredo.  He sings with a warmth in his voice that many of his critics always sighted as one of his supposed deficiencies.  And needless to say the top notes are spectacular.  Vicente Sardinero is a stern Germont.  I do believe that he possessed one of the most beautiful baritone voices of his day.  The sound is good.
