Pros:

  • One would think that a Swedish-language Turandot might leech the Italianate style out of Puccini's final opera, but, surprisingly, the Swedish text fits rather seamlessly into Puccini's prosody without getting in the way of the soaring melodic lines.
  • Berit Lindholm's cool, steely soprano finds a perfect home in the role of Turandot, bringing an equally balance of allure and menace.
  • Irma Urrila's honey-toned Liù is a definite standout.

Cons:

  • None to mention.
