It's hard to think of Montserrat Caballé in this role on the stage. On recording it is hard to doubt for one moment that she is the teenage courtesan. She may not have the charm or upper register that Beverly Sills used so effectively in the Gavotte, but her "Pardonnez-moi, Dieu de toute puissance" is imbued with pathos and the climaxes are truly thrilling. The sound is very good.
