Pros:

  • Excellent performance all around by the forces of the Teatro Colón. The superb adult and children's chorus deserve a shout-out for their precision.
  • As Parsifal, Wolfgang Windgassen embodies all of the character's youth and subsequant enlightenment. Régine Crespin is a wild, earthy Kundry
  • Franz Crass's elegant bass is perfect as Gurnemanz and Theo Adam makes much of Amfortas' suffering.

Cons:

  • Cuts are made in the performance that might be jarring to the diehard Wagnerian.
  • Régine Crespin struggles at the end of Act II.
