As Leporello, Erich Kunz embraces the comic dimension of the role while also contributing passages of notably refined singing. A young Montserrat Caballé gives a compelling portrayal of Donna Elvira, bringing both fiery temperament and impressive vocal precision.

Waldemar Kmentt's robust tenor conveys Don Ottavio's sensitivity without allowing the character to seem weak or ineffectual. Lisa Otto is an engaging Zerlina, completing a consistently strong ensemble. On the podium, Michael Gielen draws an electrifying performance from the forces at his disposal, even if the orchestral playing does not always match the exceptional standard set by the singers.
