Pros:
- This performance of Die Walküre will leave you thinking that there was no vocal challenge beyond Astrid Varnays' abilities.
- As Sieglinde, Gré Brouwenstijn's slender yet opulent soprano is an excellent contrast to Varnay's rich auburn hued tone.
- As if singing Siegfried in this Cycle weren't enough for Wolfgang Windgassen, he adds Siegmund to his plate. It is striking to have the side-by-side comparison and fascinating to hear how he shades his voice differently in each role.
Cons:
- None to mention.
