DESCRIPTION

Linda di Chamounix, a relative rarity in the operatic canon, receives notable star treatment in this recording from Naples. In the title role, Antonietta Stella, still in her twenties, shows genuine bel canto credentials and an alluring vocal color that points toward her destiny as one of the great lirico spinto sopranos of her generation.

Cesare Valetti offers a dulcet-toned Carlo. Fedora Barbieri, in the rather small role of Pierotto, still manages to bring the character vividly to life, much as she did in larger roles.
