Wagner: Lohengrin (Excerpts) - Tebaldi, Prandelli, Nicolai, Borgonovo; Capuana. Venezia, 1947

Listen to a Sample:

This recording is a very tantalizing glimpse into Renata Tebaldi's skills as a Wagnerian soprano.  It is a shame that she did not sing more.   Karl Böhm tried to encourage her but she was too concerned with the German.  Here she sings Elsa with an angelic quality that any specialist would envy.  Equally adapt at the style is the great mezzo Elena Nicolai as Ortrud and Giacinto Pradelli as Lohengrin.  This recording just features excerpts and there is English narration throughout.  Also the sound is slightly muffled.
