As Siegfried, Jean Cox strikes an ideal balance between lyricism and heroic power, singing with freedom and focus. Karl Ridderbusch nearly steals the show with a suave but malevolent Hagen, his dark bass perfectly suited to the role’s sinister charisma.

The supporting cast is equally strong: Norman Bailey delivers a refined Gunther, Anna Reynolds is moving as Waltraute, and Janis Martin and Liane Synek round out the trio with well-shaped portrayals of Gutrune and the Third Norn, respectively.
