Wagner: Die Walküre - Varnay, Hotter, Resnik, Vinay, Malaniuk, Greindl; C. Krauss. Bayreuth, 1953
$12.95

Pros:
- Astrid Varnay and Hans Hotter are well-paired as Brünnhilde and Wotan. During their scenes together, you get the sense that they are truly listening to one another.
- Perhaps the most interesting addition to the cast is Regina Resnik as Sieglinde. Resnik didn't possess an easy top (hence the transition to mezzo), but she brings an abandon to the role that makes the extra effort on her part only enhance the intensity and passion of Wagner's vocal writing.
- Ramón Vinay would also transition to baritone, but he is captured here still in full command of his gleaming top.
Cons:
- None to mention.
