Gertrude Grob-Prandl is glorious as Brünnhilde, her commanding soprano soaring over the orchestra with radiant ease. Robert F. Denzler draws remarkably nuanced playing from L'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, and the sound is quite good for the era. However, Ludwig Hofmann struggles in the role of Wotan, and the performance includes a number of cuts that detract slightly from the overall impact.
