Pauline Tinsley brings both amplitude and agility to the role of Amelia, her soprano equally suited to fiery declamation and lyrical stoicism. Louis Quilico is nothing short of riveting as Renato—one wishes more recordings existed capturing him at this point in his prime. Although this release only includes excerpts, the majority of Tinsley's music is fortunately intact.

The sound is far from ideal and will likely appeal most to dedicated fans of Tinsley and Quilico.
