In this performance of Simon Boccanegra, Ingvar Wixell takes on the role of the doge. While his bright timbre conveys more youth than the part typically calls for, he compensates with a heartfelt and sincere interpretation.

Maria Chiara delivers a consistently strong performance. While her voice may lack a certain star quality, her innate understanding of Verdi’s style carries her far. The sound is fair to good.
