Superb Performance - Terrible Sound
Performance (with some cuts) is absolutely riveting. The sound, however, even for those days, is absolutely execrable. One has to listen through its deficiencies to really appreciate this great performance.Opera Depot doesn't tell you about the cuts until AFTER you've bought this set. The poor sound quality is a known given due to the fact so many of these pirate recordings have totally variable sound quality.But be warned on this one.Steve

Un superbe Otello
Magnifique version, malgré un son parfois confus et quelques coupures. On connaissait déjà Ramon Vinay, Otello de référence, et on découvre Gino Becchi, Iago démoniaque (peut-être un peu trop parfois), et Maria Caniglia, Desdémone incandescente. Et la direction vive et dramatique de Victor de Sabata réalise une synthèse unique de Furtwängler et Toscanini, tous deux enregistrés dans cette même œuvre.
