I would have enjoyed this performance more if the sound were of a better quality. As an in-house affair the voices sound rather distant with Synek's performance suffering the most from this problem. Although she does throw herself into the role, as any Lady Macbeth must, her diction is unclear thanks to the sound quality and the role doesn't seem to suit her voice particularly well though this could be said of other singers of far greater fame. The rest of the cast is quite good with a very strong Macbeth from Jadulako who sings with unexpected sensitivity. The conducting of Nello Santi predictably keeps things moving forward knowing this repertory backwards and forwards. In short, I wish I could recommend this performance more heartily but it has its moments if only the sound was of better quality, it does take patience.

Diese Aufnahme ist etwas für Nostalgier, die noch einmal der Stimme von Synek und Schachtschneider hören wollen. Die Aufnahme Qualität lässt sehr zu wünschen übrig aber man erkennt die gesangliche Qualität der Sänger in den einzelnen Szenen. Eine gelungene Vorstellung mit dem vorzüglichen Nelli Santi als Dirigent. Ich habe die Wiedergabe aus nostalgischen Gründen genossen. This recording is something for nostalgics who want to hear the voice of Synek and Schachtschneider once again. The recording quality leaves much to be desired but one can recognize the vocal quality of the singers in the individual scenes. A successful performance with the excellent Nelli Santi as conductor. I enjoyed the rendition for nostalgic reasons.
