Verdi: Luisa Miller - Ricciarelli, Carreras, Bruson; Previtali. Torino, 1976

$9.95

Description:

I discovered Luisa Miller later in life, but I’m quickly making up for lost time as it’s becoming one of my favorite middle-period Verdi operas—especially with a cast of this caliber. Katia Ricciarelli and José Carreras, legendary both on and off the stage, are at their best here.

While much of their recorded legacy suffers from poorly conceived studio projects made after Verdi and Puccini began to take its toll, this performance offers a priceless glimpse at their early brilliance. Both bring a vibrant youthful energy paired with a remarkable maturity in vocal technique that belies their years.

Renato Bruson completes the cast with a superb portrayal of Miller, adding depth and gravitas to the production. The sound quality is excellent.
