Luisa Miller
Gilda Cruz-Romo is caught in excellent form in this exciting performance of Luisa Miller. She is particularly effective in a heart-wrenching duet with her father, sung with a light touch and a strong backbone by Matteo Manuguerra. Luciano Pavarotti could not be called "dramatically involved" but he is in resplendent voice. Raffaele Aire is a noble sounding, oddly sympathetic Walther, another in Verdi's long line of tortured murderers. Unfortunately, about two minutes of music are missing from Luisa and Frederica's confrontation. Peter Maag conducts.

Young Pavarotti
I liked Pavarotti's young and fresh voice, powerful Manuguerra as Miller, excellent Cruz- Romo as title heroine. Arie is as usual in nice form. As Andy honestly pointed out, there is some music missing, but nevertheless recording worth having. I am an admirer of Peter Maag's conducting and he doesn't disapoint here.

Very good performance, actually from 6 december 1974 . The plus here are Manuguerra and Arie .

GIUSEPPE VERDI'S "LUISA MILLER"
A great live performance and recording of this underrated and overlooked opera by Giuseppe Verdi! A must! Highly recommended!
