This is a compelling German language Don Carlo. In the demanding title role Ernst Kozub sings very well with plenty of spinto heft. Edith Lang does well as Elisabetta although it is fair to say that she is not one for the ages. Irene Dalis is the star of the evening. She is absolutely wild in "O don fatale." The sound is fine.
