NOTES

The principal cast is consistently documented in collector discographies
and opera reference sources. However, the complete cast for this
specific Hamburg performance has not been located in currently available
online archives. In particular, the singers for the Grand Inquisitor (in
most sources), the Friar, Tebaldo, Count of Lerma, Herald, Voice from
Heaven, and other comprimario roles are not reliably identified.

This is one of the Hamburg broadcasts whose recording has circulated
widely among collectors, while the original program and complete cast
list have proven much more difficult to locate.

Further research in Hamburg State Opera season programs, German
newspaper archives, and original LP/CD booklet documentation may reveal
the remaining cast members.
