In his prime, Franco Corelli's voice was effortlessly thrilling—not just a product of impeccable technique, but also of a boundless generosity of spirit and sound. He never held anything back. Here, he takes on the punishing tessitura of Radamès with astonishing security. Antonietta Stella is an excellent partner as Aida, matching Corelli in both richness and assurance, delivering a phenomenal High C in "O patria mia." Fedora Barbieri brings her signature strength to Amneris, never holding back on the chest voice—an essential element in this role. Yet, to reduce her to vocal prowess alone would be unfair; she was also a riveting actress, igniting the stage with remarkable intensity, especially in the judgment scene. Anselmo Colzani is also excellent as Amonasro.
