Felicia Weathers was an African-American soprano who despite an impressive start never had the career that was expected.  It is possible that singing Salome when she was 28 didn't help things.   This performance does mark her best singing, though,  and she is unstoppable in this role embodying all of the characteristics you want in this character- innocence, sensuality with substantial vocal heft.  She ultimately proves herself that she was a Salome for the ages even if the career was all too brief.
