Strauss: Die Liebe der Danae - Rysanek, Frantz, Vandenberg, Sieder; Eichhorn. Munich in London, 1953

Listen to a Sample:

Leonie Rysanek was known as a great Strauss singer but Die Liebe der Danae was an opera that she did not sing very often.  In 1953 she was still in her twenties.  Her voice is clarion and fresh and seems made for the soaring Straussian lines.  The sound is only fair.
