A very nice performance, in good sound

We've all heard these singers in these roles before, but here they are in the same performance and the results are terrific.De los Angeles' Rosina is well-known. She recorded the role in the studio about this time under Gui and with Bruscantini. They are charming together and make a great team, especially in the "Dunque io son" duet. Her coloratura may not be the most fleet, but she makes it all work as does Alva whose passagework was never as fluent as one might like. He provides Almaviva with a handsome presence though. Bruscantini was a native Italian and it shows in his dexterity with the language. Corena was natively Swiss and spoke Italian, French, and German fluently. His Bartolo is deliciously pompous and overbearing - and very funny. The odd-man-out in the cast is Cangalovich, better known for his Russian roles. He is a good Basilio though without the fluidity of the other singers. The Berta, Carmen Burello, sings her aria extremely well. And young Gian Piero Mastromei is heard appropriately enough as Fiorello. Cillario makes fewer cuts than usual at that time.The sound is excellent with no glitches that I heard. All Barber fans should hear this!
