Great Performance, Excellent Sound!
There's not much to say here that hasn't already been said below or by Andy above. This is a thrilling performance of Salome with an incredible cast, all supported by the magnificent Rudolf Kempe. Unusually for a München audience, Rysanek gets applause at her entrance, something I only thought happened in America. Everyone is at the top of their game. To top it off the sound is excellent broadcast stereo - the Pirate Gods smiled happily down on this venture. There are no sound glitches that I heard; there's even a well-chosen disc break.If you love Salome and/or these singers you must get this set.

A great Kempe performance
This a great performance under one of the finest Strauss conductors of the 20th century (only two years before his tragically early death) and with a first-class cast. The recording quality is equally remarkable.
