Description:

This remarkably well-preserved recording offers a rare opportunity to hear Viorica Ursuleac, the original Arabella, in a role she created at the opera’s 1933 premiere. Conducting is Clemens Krauss, who not only led that premiere but also shaped much of the performance tradition surrounding the work. Their presence imbues this document with extraordinary historical significance, providing insight into the opera's earliest interpretive style.

Trude Eipperle is a standout as Zdenka, bringing a full-voiced warmth and expressive clarity to the role.
