Delightful Concert by Three Outstanding Musicians!
Soderstrom and Meyer gave a number of joint recitals. This one was given at Aldeburgh in 1964 and presents only a few selections that may be familiar to most concert goers. But nevervfear: the British announcer describes what we're going to hear before the ladies and their renowned accompanist perform the solos and duets and also what they are about. Soderstrom loved conversi g with her audience especially when singing repertoire that may have been unfamiliar and does so very charmingly. Meyer also describes her selections in sufficient detail. The ladies blend exquisitely. Moore was gifted accompanist and provides a solid musical background for all selections. Though this recital is spread over two discs I'm not sure it contains the entire recital. The last programmed selections were Dvorak's Moravian duets and only two are sung. There are also no encores (I can't imagine there weren't any encores.) Perhaps as compensation and to fill up the second disc Andy gives us four arias sung by Söderström from various operas, all displaying her great abilities as a singer and actress.R
