This performance may be a bit of a "sleeper" in that people won't expect it to be good - and it's much better than good. There are more Italianate performances available, but this one has its own unique strengths. Lindholm's voice is different from Nilsson's: it is reedier, less focused, more colorful. She doesn't lack for power and she has no difficulties with any of the high notes. She is given the full "Del primo pianto" and makes the most of it (unlike Nilsson who never sang it on stage although it is included in her studio recordings).Her Calaf, Guy Chauvet, is unexpectedly good. He sings very lyrically and has a powerful top that includes the optional C in "No, no, principessa altera". It is almost Corelli-like in its squillo (ring). Evelyn Brunner sings a beautiful Liu. She performs both arias with great care and passion and floats the B-flat on "Perche un di" divinely - whatever happened to her? Wilderman actually makes something of Timur. His rage and heartbreak at Liu's suicide are startling in their vehemence. The three ministers are excellent, their scene performed without the usual trimming. Santi knows how Turandot is supposed to go and leads his cast and orchestra with spirit.The sound is excellent with no glitches, big or small, that I heard. Turandot lovers need this performance!

This is a very fine performance. Lindholm has steely voice similar to, but now as powerful as, Nilsson. Chauvet is fine Calaf. All others are also very good. Sound is very good and clear but sometimes microphone does not pick up voices that are down stage. This can be disconcerting in important passages. All in all, I enjoyed this performance.
