Puccini: Tosca - Tebaldi, Tagliavini, Gobbi; Molinari-Pradelli. London, 1955

Listen to a Sample:

This performance is a gem given the excellent sound for a recording from 1955 and the fact that it sports a great cast which includes Renata Tebaldi and Tito Gobbi, arguably some of the best exponents of their respective roles in the history of opera.  And the two of them together in Act II set the place ablaze.   If Ferruccio Tagliavini seems somewhat of a weak link it is only because he is standing with such titans of Italian Opera.  The sound is excellent.
