Vocally, you couldn't ask for a stronger cast in this performance of Tosca. Maria Caniglia and Mario Del Monaco are in thrilling form—each compelled to encore their arias to thunderous applause. Del Monaco's clarion top notes and dramatic fervor are matched by Caniglia's fiery, emotionally charged Tosca, making for an electrifying pairing.

Giangiacomo Guelfi is a powerhouse Scarpia, his voice dark and imposing, his presence menacing without ever resorting to caricature. It's a commanding interpretation elevating the part to a truly three-dimensional character.

The pitch is quite unstable throughout the recording. While efforts have been made to stabilize it, some moments may still be jarring to the ear.
