Puccini: Manon Lescaut - Caballé, Tucker, Mastromei, Telasko; Bartoletti. Buenos Aires, 1966
Listen to a Sample:
I have no reservations stating that this is about as definitive a performance of Manon Lescaut as you could ever hope to find. Montserrat Caballé and Richard Tucker are at the top of their game. If Puccini had ever heard the way Caballé floats his melodies I am sure that he would have written operas for her. Likewise for Richard Tucker how goes almost beyond the depths of despair in his Act III aria. What's more is that the sound is flawless.
