Puccini: La Fanciulla del West - Frazzoni, Corelli, Gobbi, Sordello, Zaccaria; Votto. Milano, 1956
Listen to a Sample:
Gigliola Frazzoni had a short career but in that time was able to establish herself as a Minnie for the ages. She brings wide-eye optimism to the part. Some of her singing is so giving that it seems inevitable that the voice would not hold up. Here she is in her prime. She is joined by Franco Corelli who rises to the enormous challenges of this part matching his partner in intensity. Tito Gobbi's snarly baritone is perfect as Jack Rance. The sound is very good.
