Boheme

Tenor and soprano excellent. Bought this for them. Sound varied and at times was not so great.

Beautiful Boheme in Good Sound!

Here's yet another Boheme, but if you love the opera you'll want this. Zeani has just the right timbre for this music and she is a lovely, detailed Mimi. She has a terrific Rodolfo in Aragall who in 1967 had one of the most beautiful tenors in the world. He sings the big aria in the original key and then crowns Act One with another great C. He is also an impassioned, loving Rodolfo that one roots for even as his beloved is dying. The other singers are good with Clabassi as Colline outstanding (what a voice!). I don't know much about Sukmawati, but she is a characterful Musetta with a distinct timbre who doesn't go overboard. Aliberti always had a rather rough-sounding voice, yet he fits in well with his colleagues. Some of the ensemble is a little rough-and-ready, but Rigacci leads a moving performance. The basic sound is good, especially in Act One. Thereafter there are occasional volume drops, minor blips in the original tape, etc. Nothing terrible, but a perspective purchaser should know ahead of time. Aragall is heard in an interview after the opera - brush up on your Spanish!
