Puccini: La Bohème - Stratas, Cossutta, Niska, Fredricks; Herbert. 1968

Listen to a Sample:

  • For a singer who defied classification throughout her long career, Teresa Stratas makes a good argument, as Mimì, that she was a Puccinian through and through. There is a sensitivity to her phrasing that is organic and she knows where to deliver the full scope of her sumptuous soprano.
  • Carlo Cossutta brings a wonderful combination of elegance and power to the role of Rodolfo.
  • As Musetta, Maralin Niska steals a scene or two in Act II, but then delivers some very poignant moments in Act IV.

  • None to mention.
