Puccini: Gianni Schicchi - Capecchi, Rizzoli, Lazzari, Palombini, De Palma, Clabassi; Molinari-Pradelli. Napoli, 1956

$5.95

Description:

From his very first entrance, Renato Capecchi takes command of the performance with a dynamic mix of dramatic baritone swagger and buffo charm, perfectly suited to the role of Gianni Schicchi. His presence is magnetic, and his comic timing never overshadows the musical integrity of the part.

Agostino Lazzarino brings youthful energy and vocal brightness to Rinuccio, while Bruna Rizzoli offers a sweet, if somewhat understated, Lauretta. Her famous aria is delivered with sincerity, even if it lacks some of the vocal individuality of her castmates. The sound is very good, capturing both the voices and the lively orchestral playing with clarity.
