Of all the Mozart/Da Ponte collaborations, Così fan tutte is probably the most difficult to pull off.  Speaking personally, I can listen to a mediocre performance of Figaro and still enjoy but for Così I need a strong cast.   This performance manages to pull it off.  The cast is excellent.  You either love or hate Teresa Stich-Randall.  Although there may be a few errant pitches she sings with great style and grace.   A VERY young Teresa Berganza sings Dorabella.   Still in her early twenties, she sings with technique well beyond her years.  Luigi Alva put the grazia in "tenore di grazia."   He manages to sing with beautiful poise without every coming across as unmanly.  The sound is very good.
